The Six PM Club | Nightlife Till Midnight for 30+ |
Deep and Uplifting House Music & Underground Disco
Midlife kan geweldig zijn met generatiegenoten.
Adem in, adem uit. Beweeg, ontspan.
Dit is jouw moment. Durf ja te zeggen.
Zet thuis uit, laat muziek je meevoeren. Wees hier.
Neem de tijd. Zoek contact, blijf nieuwsgierig. Kom thuis bij generatiegenoten en gelijkgestemden.
Wees jezelf of juist even niet.
Welkom!

SUNSET STORIES
Luister. Ontdek. Beweeg.
Voel hoe verhalen in klanken tot leven komen.
En als het raakt – deel het. Met vrienden. Met geliefden. Met zij die je taal verstaan, ook zonder woorden.

A conversation with the soulful selector behind the sound: GREG VAN BUEREN
As the sun dips and the evening unfolds, The Six PM Club proudly launches Sunset Stories. A musical journey curated by our resident tastemakers. We begin with a true connoisseur of groove: Greg van Bueren, whose legacy in soulful house runs deep and wide. We sat down with Greg to talk about his roots, the moments that shaped him, and the sound he still brings to dancefloors today.
Hi Greg, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? My name is Greg van Bueren. I’m a DJ, producer, and passionate music lover through and through. My musical journey began in the 1990s and eventually led to international recognition as one half of the duo Hardsoul. We had the chance to release music on legendary labels like Soulfuric and Defected Records, with tracks like "Back Together" (featuring Ron Carroll), which became a true house classic around the globe. These days, I balance my time between producing and collaborating (recently with Dutchican Soul), mixing, and coaching up-and-coming artists. Music for me isn’t just about performing. It’s about sharing knowledge, inspiring others, and contributing to the culture.
Do you remember your first real encounter with house music? Yes, somewhere in the ’90s, at a party I probably shouldn’t have been at. I heard a track that had these warm, soulful vocals laid over a deep, rolling groove. It was raw and emotional at the same time. I didn’t know what I was listening to back then, but later I’d recognise it as that classic New York sound, Masters at Work style. It hit me instantly and left a mark I couldn’t shake. From that point on, I was hooked.
Was there a defining or magical moment that deepened your love for the genre? Not just one, it’s a collection of moments that together shaped my journey. The first time I went to Southport Weekender felt like coming home. The energy at the Loveball in the RoXY was something else entirely. Hearing one of my own tracks played for the first time at the Miami Music Conference gave me goosebumps. And then there are those once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like being at Nighttown for a Masters at Work set, or when Frankie Knuckles played “Back Together” during our label night at Loveland, and later told me backstage it was one of his favourite records. Those are moments you never forget.
How would you describe your sound today? I’d say it’s a warm blend of funky grooves, soulful melodies, and uplifting house energy. It’s music with layers, emotional and musical, but always effective on the dancefloor. Imagine the feel of disco and soul, combined with the drive and pulse of classic house. It’s nostalgic, but fresh. Danceable, melodic, and always rooted in feeling.
What can people expect from your Sunset Stories set? A personal story told through music, grooves that move you, melodies that stay with you. I’ve curated a selection that reflects my roots, my influences, and the timeless connection we all have to music when the sun sets and the night begins.

A Conversation with the Musical Guide Behind Part Two: BENJAMIN BROWN
As the sun sets and the night awakens, The Six PM Club proudly presents Sunset Stories.
A musical journey shaped by our resident tastemakers.
In this second chapter, we sit down with Benjamin Brown, musical heavyweight, co-founder of The Six PM Club, and a true veteran of black electronic dance music.
We spoke with Benjamin about his musical roots, the defining moments that shaped his path, and the energy he continues to bring to dancefloors around the world.
Hi Benjamin, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? My name is Rasheed Benjamin Brown, but that didn’t quite fit on flyers, so I decided to drop the first name. I'm a Moroccan Amsterdammer since 1973, currently living in De Pijp with my rock and my little vacuum cleaner on four legs: Biggie Smalls. I started DJing around 1995, but before that I was part of a small breakdance crew, and I’d occasionally get the chance to spin records at the local community center; usually when the older guys weren’t around. Music was always present at home. My mother played Arabic music constantly, and my older brother was always blasting Western sounds. I grew up glued to the radio, especially to WAPS, the first hip-hop radio show in Holland; and I used to record Ben Liebrand’s year mixes religiously. I was obsessed with the ‘80s pop sound, and later completely fell for New Jack Swing and ‘90s R&B.
Do you remember your first real encounter with house music? Absolutely. I have to admit, I didn’t like house music at all at first. The only thing I’d ever heard was acid house, and that made me feel more anxious than happy. Back then, I worked in a clothing store on the Nieuwendijk, where I got to know someone quite well. He used to come over for dinner with me and my girlfriend at the time. After every meal, he’d head out into the city and for months, he kept trying to convince me to come along. He promised I’d love it. Eventually, I gave in. He took me to a hidden upstairs room above a gay bar on Reguliersdwarsstraat. You could only get in with a membership or as someone’s guest. The moment I walked into that space, my whole world shifted. That night, I was introduced to Chicago and New York house music and I was never the same again. Big shoutout to you, Armand thank you!
Was there a defining or magical moment that deepened your love for the genre? There have been many, of course, but I’ve always believed that the initial spark, that very first point of contact with a genre, is the most essential. For me, that moment happened in a small upstairs room on Reguliersdwarsstraat called Havana Upstairs. Behind the decks was Groovemaster Johnson, a true legend in his niche of the Amsterdam inner-city scene. That’s where I first heard tracks by Masters at Work, David Morales, Todd Terry, Heller & Farley, MK, DJ Sneak, Todd Edwards, and many more. The sound system was incredible, and the space only held about a hundred people. Every drag queen, gay, lesbian anyone from that time knew Havana Upstairs. They even released their own CD compilations, because you had no idea where to find that kind of music back then. But it wasn’t just the tracks, John, a.k.a. Groovemaster Johnson, was an impeccable DJ. He was a perfectionist behind the decks, with a disco-infused flow and those signature Puerto Rican percussion breaks that would set the room on fire. So yes, for me, discovering Havana Upstairs and Groovemaster Johnson was truly a magical moment.
How would you describe your sound today? These days, I’d say my sound officially sits somewhere between uplifting soulful and cloudy deep house. I get that we need genres to help people find what they're looking for, but the longer I’ve been playing, the more I find myself returning to the traditional role of the DJ. By that I mean: being a storyteller. I draw from all genres to tell the story I want to share with the dancefloor. That might mean starting with disco or soulful house and ending in techno; it all depends on the narrative I’m building. That kind of freedom isn’t always easy to translate to a crowd, but honestly… that’s what makes it such a beautiful challenge.
What can people expect from your Sunset Stories set? First of all, it was nearly impossible to keep it under 50 tracks — I had to kill a lot of darlings! I set out with three clear intentions: One: to represent the current sound of Amsterdam’s underground house scene. Two: to capture a snapshot of what The Six PM Club stands for right now. And three: to simply share music. A lot of what we play at The Six PM Club doesn’t get airtime on the radio, yet people often ask us about certain tracks. So with this compilation, we’re hitting three birds with one stone. My musical story? Imagine I’m the deep ocean between the continents of Africa and South America. You’re sailing in a little boat. I’m here to take you on an unforgettable journey.
